James Marsters: The Man, The Music, The Spike TV Movie!

‘’James Marsters: The Man, The Music, The Spike TV Movie!’’

Our legendary, favorite British blond rocker vamp, Spike, and his real life counterpart, the incomparable, multi talented, and just as gorgeous, beloved, brunette, born in the USA, Yankee, James Marsters, are given the bloody (pun!) royal treatment as the Cover Story for the September/October 2005 issue of ‘’Angel Magazine’’.

Oh, what do we have here! The crème de la crème. An in depth exclusive interview with James Marsters, ‘’A Civilized Man’’ on pages 14-20, conducted shortly after his weekend appearance at the U.K.’s Milton Keynes’ Collectormania 7 Event.

Marsters, quite the open, affable, genuine icon, seems more than appreciative of his good fortune, having the opportunities to dip his multi talented toes successfully, in many creative areas, and for his fans who have stood by him from the U.S. across the pond to the U.K. and throughout Europe.

Marsters waxes poetic first about his wealth of musical projects. We already know Marsters from his rock and roll days with his former band, Ghost Of The Robot. But Marsters’ pride and joy is his popular and well received solo music career. He discusses his current debut album, ‘’Civilized Man’’, which is available for purchase on his website, and that he is about ‘’80 percent pleased’’ with the disc. He’s already working on his 2nd record, and has some three quarters of the album written. How prolific! (and we can’t wait!)

James says that while he was on tour about a year ago in Amsterdam, he fell in love with the Blues (anything else to make us ADORE you James, as we just LOVE the Blues too!), and that he would like to perhaps explore them in his future songwriting. James says, ‘’The Blues is not actually about pain, it’s about getting through’’. And B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Etta James, the late, great Muddy Waters, and many more would concur, as well as be proud that our James is inspired to carry on the torch of this esteemed music idiom.

There are some great photos, of our Jim boy playing his guitar, and of his ‘’Civilized Man’’ album too. James goes on to say that being a solo artist, he loves being ‘’emotionally connected’’ to his own songs, something he couldn’t be, when he was in Ghost Of The Robot, in which he had to share songwriting with his bandmates. James says, ‘’I’m writing my own music and I’m comfortable in my own range.’’

James has toured the U.K. several times performing his music and says that, ‘’this tour is really about just standing in front of your audience with one guitar and saying, ‘’This is me.’’’’

Then James discusses his many film and TV projects. One being a movie that he is in discussions to produce. There’s also his acting role in the TV movie, ‘’Cool Money’’. We already know about James’s current, recurring stint as the evil Brainiac in the WB Network’s ‘’Smallville’’.

But of course, we wouldn’t leave you hanging. We just saved the best and juiciest for last. Ah, the Spike TV movie. Marsters fondly addresses that, after ‘’Angel Magazine’’ tells him that Joss Whedon has vocalized on the internet, Joss’s own ardent desire to write and direct the film. James exuberantly exclaims, ‘’For him (Joss) to say that, I love him, I love him for it. But I want to do it. I’m excited about doing it. I think he’s one of the best writers I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with some really amazing writers, so when I say that, it’s a high compliment!’’

We’d like you to know that ‘’Angel Magazine’’ reports in a major buzz worthy article on page 6 a revelation that TV’s own WB Network President, David Janollari insists that the Spike ‘’William The Bloody’’ telepic remains a ‘’project of interest for him’’ and that he is more than hopeful that it will come to fruition and has been purusing writer/creator Joss Whedon like a bloodhound hot on the trail.
