"Smallville's" Jonathan Kent RIP, Lana LIVES!

““Smallville’s” Jonathan Kent RIP, Lana LIVES!”

For those of you who caught last night’s Thursday, January 26, 2006, 100th episode of “Smallville”, (and for those of you who missed it), the main odds contender to die in the pivotal episode, turned out to be Clark’s beloved adoptive Father, Jonathan Kent.

Actor, John Schneider, who truly made the role of Jonathan Kent his own, imbuing it with the wisdom, love, and guidance necessary to create the ultimate, convincing parental figure and man of strong moral fiber and conviction, who would stalwartly help lead Clark along the right and virtuous path, as Clark grew from a teen into a man while discovering his true, Super Hero identity and powers, will be missed on the WB Television Network hit series, now in its 5th season.

In the episode, Jonathan, on the very same night that he emerged victorious, winning the election as a Senator in the Kansas State Senate, died from a heart attack.

The red herring which we all feared, which was the possible death of Clark’s (and our) beloved, eternal love, Lana, DID happen, TOO!

But, in the land of “Smallville” and fantasy, epic, comic book Super Heroes, Clark, by virtue of the celestial forces provided by his biological, Kryptonian Father Jor-El, was able to relive over the day on which Lana passed, and Clark was allowed to save, ONE, person who perished.

Even with his undeniable, otherworldly super powers though, even Clark, was only able to save ONE of the two, dearly departed people that he loved.

So “Smallville’s” writers ensured keeping fans happy, with the somewhat extraterrestrial resurrection of core heroine character and Clark’s main squeeze canoodling gal pal, Lana, who was brought back from the clutches of death, to live once more.

John Schneider says on Zap2it.com, that when he began to read the script for the 100th episode, and he learned that Lana was to die, he thought that Jonathan had beaten the Grim Reaper. Not so.

Schneider tells Zap2it.com that, “As you read it, Lana dies first. They even fooled us. I started reading it and thought, “These guys have been full of crap. Look at them. It’s not me, it’s Lana for crying out…oh wait a minute. Oh.””

We want to say that as a huge fan of the series, that both actor, Schneider, and his character of the consummate, loving Father figure, Jonathan Kent, will be greatly missed.

We are however, breathing a sigh of relief that Lana, (and actress, Kristin Kreuk), is sticking around, so that Clark and Lana can continue to steam up their now definitely ON again, romance.

Plus the magnetic, sparkling chemistry, and well drawn, intelligently written, played out, character driven, life long friendship, which has blossomed into first, true love, between actress, Kreuk in her portrayal as Lana, and actor, Tom Welling, in his portrayal as Clark/Superman has remained a constant, key element in driving the dazzling dynamic of the series.

Actor, Schneider tells Zap2it.com that he will miss working on “Smallville” and that in particular, he will miss his 5 year long collaboration, working alongside and with actor, Welling.

We wish you well John! (Oh, and you STILL reign in the ORIGINAL “Dukes Of Hazzard”, as well as being one heck of a top notch song and dance man in many a lauded Broadway show!)

As for “Smallville”, Clark and Lana, WOW, sitting in a tree, K I S S I N G!

Thank Goodness! Whew! That was a close call. By the way, THANKS Jor-EL for helping Clark to save our girl!
