You heard right! Zap2it.com reports that everyone’s favorite deep sea born super hero is getting his own television series, thanks to the overwhelming viewer ratings and response to “Aquaman’s” guest appearance on an October 2005 episode of the WB Network’s hit series, ‘’Smallville’’, where the water loving crime fighter helped Clark Kent (aka Superman) battle some nasty villains.

TV newcomer, actor, Will Toale, who has an impressive resume of film and theater credits, including parts in the recent films, ‘’Uptown Girls’’ and ‘’Tempting Adam’’, as well as an esteemed role on Broadway in ‘’A Streetcar Named Desire’’ will fill the gills of the Atlantis native, with the debut episode targeting production to begin sometime this March 2006, in Miami, Florida.

Toale will portray everyday, mild mannered, twenty something, Arthur Curry, who works in a scuba diving store. Just as ‘’Smallville’’ has done with the Clark Kent/Superman saga, the “Aquaman” series will focus on a young Curry as he first becomes aware of and then thus, masters his special powers and abilities, gradually maturing from youth to manhood, all while he fights injustice and protects the innocent from evil.

The WB Television Network will also be the home of the “Aquaman” series, and will likewise be written by ‘’Smallville’’ collaborators and creators, Miles Millar and Al Gough.

If the “Aquaman” series is anywhere as smart, savvy, and yes, romantic, as ‘’Smallville’’ is STILL continuing to be, now in its fifth successful season, we can’t wait to tune in!

Here’s hoping the show’s writers include a celestial lady love as steamy as Lana Lang and a nemesis as cold blooded and dastardly as Lex Luthor to keep “Aquaman” busy, along with a regular weekly dose of super powered henchmen and villains to keep us glued to the edge of our seat.

Just one thing. We wonder what the series title will be? Miami sure isn’t ‘’Smallville’’. How about ‘’Big Beach!’’ (just kidding folks!). How about ‘’The Prince Of Tides’’? Oh yeah, that title has already been taken for the best selling Pat Conroy book and blockbuster film. Crikey!

Anyways, whatever it’s called, we’re definitely looking forward to the incredible adventures of “Aquaman” in his very own TV series!
